I use paper to make a Do Now for students to start the math lesson off by activating their prior knowledge. We end lessons with an exit ticket to assess how much they have learned in class. I use the data from the exit tickets to separate students into small groups the following day based on strategies used to solve problems. Students take home a homework assignment on paper to continue the learning process at home and hand in the next day. In addition we use paper for progress reports sent home to parents and guardians to keep them in the loop of what the grade is and how it is calculated. In science class we use paper in a similar way for Do Now and homework assignments as well as to compile data for our labs and projects.
I cannot make the necessary growth in students without a large supply of paper. I go through more than 5 cases of paper per year that I normally purchase out of my own money. I work a second job to purchase supplies for my classroom without a financial burden on parents. Paper has gotten more expensive to purchase. I am seeking donors to supplement the amount I spend on this individual supply.
