Our school district has started a medical/patient care pathway. We have grants and funding for the curriculum and materials needed for classes; specifically for my medical assistant class. However, Career Technical Education Standard (Patient Care Pathway) B10: "Comply with protocols and preventative health practices necessary to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, health care workers, coworkers, and self within the healthcare setting" is not funded. Students will use requested materials to create a sanitary and sterile environment as it would be in a hospital setting. The materials requested will make a HUGE difference in my students' learning because they will able to practice all CTE standards according to OSHA guidelines before they start their clinical hours in a real hospital setting.
