Students need to learn about the USA States, capitals, and landmarks in a fun non-threatening way. Several times a day the students will be interacting with the map. We currently have a USA map rug that the students love. However, it is over 20 years old and has become a tripping hazard and unsanitary to all. I do not want to remove the rug from my classroom, but I might have to.
Our class will use the rug for a variety of engaging learning opportunities. The map allows the students to sit on different U.S. states, capitals and landmarks whenever they come to the rug. We use the rug during reading, math, science and of course for social studies.
