All students entering into Algebra I need graphing calculators. This technology will carry them through college. We use them daily in class. I have a class set, but I do not have any available to be checked out. These students are left using substandard apps for homework and stand out in class among their peers because they do not have their own. Unfortunately, the cost of the calculator is high, and for some, is unattainable.
Despite the poverty level, every student should be afforded the same opportunities. Without the proper technology and tools, poverty will set these students apart yet again. Please help me by providing these students the basic technology needed to be successful in mathematics both now and in the future.
