The materials will help my students by creating an environment that supports nurturing and educating the whole child. Each time a student takes a moment to be mindful by taking deep cleansing breaths, focuses and reflects will equip them with the tools to overcome the socioeconomic tramas they may have experienced.
For some, this is their first exposure to formal schooling which is why I want to do everything in my power to lessen, if not, eliminate barriers to learning. This includes having time for them to be in a safe space which can help them calm down when they become anxious and need a shift in their perspectives.
Students need time to stretch and ground themselves so they are able to reflect on find gratitude for their "now" and their future. I have learned when students' basic needs are met their energy can be directed to developing the skills necessary to become their best selves. As their teacher, my purpose is to create lifelong learners and productive members of society. It is through your donations, I will be able to use the materials to help my students with feeling hope when met with adversity.
