The biggest item we could use on this list is the projector. This way I can show video clips and songs to keep their attention. We can use the projector in so many ways! Children with autism need a lot of visuals and hands on materials such as manipulatives to aid in learning. They also respond well to sensory items such as kinetic sand, playdoh, and fidget toys that create a calming environment for them. Weighted blankets and Warmie Stuffed Animals are very helpful in calming a child with autism down when they are upset.
Our class also needs basic furniture to make it more comfortable for them, such as the rug and toy shelf, because our class is severely lacking in materials at the moment.
