By having the scanner for my students it will allow me to catalog and keep track of the books the students check out and return weekly. Currently, they are only able to read and enjoy the books during their library time, which is not enough. They need to have access to these books that are rich and engaging because most of the students do not have books in their own homes. Research has shown the importance of children being read to nightly to support the development of fluent readers. This scanner will give my students the gift of sharing books with their families.
