In my classroom full of 10 and 11 year-olds I am continuously looking for ways to keep them engaged and comfortable as well. Alternate seating allows students to take ownership of their classroom. Chair bands are a way for students to release extra energy by not disturbing their neighbors and allowing them to focus on their learning.
By providing students with stools and chair bands students are able to feel empowered to take responsibility for their learning.
The products I have chosen for my students are sturdy enough to withstand older elementary students and allow for daily use. Students will be able to quickly move stools to add seating while working collaboratively with their peers. The chair band placed on the bottom of student chairs will also help students. While students are working they can stay seated longer and focus on their work allowing them to fidget while not distracting others.
