The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will function to facilitate excitement and exploration in MULTIPLE subject areas of the classroom. My project focuses on STEAM education! "STEAM stands for 'Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. STEAM integrates the arts in the classroom and creates a hands-on creative learning environment! Studies have proven we all learn the best through personal exploration and my first graders are not an exception to the rule! I have selected multiple science supplies such as a human body model, bug science kit, life cycle posters, classroom balance, and much more! These science supplies will captivate the students and provide a hands-on learning experience! What group of first graders gets to see a human body model in their OWN classroom, how cool!? Many of the sensory supplies such as; slime, squish squeeze sensory beads, and stretch sand will help facilitate exploration through art AND science! MagnaTiles and marble runners will encourage not only engineering but critical thinking and problem-solving in children as young as 6 years old! These play items will engage the students and grow life-long-problem-solvers! Some items such as the parachute, play animals, play people, and the cash register will encourage social-emotional learning! The students will use these items in a play setting with their peers. In order to successfully play, they must problem solve and learn vital social-emotional skills such as; sharing, patience, kindness, empathy, friendship, emotional regulation and so much more! I DREAM of the possibilities with a class parachute. The parachute can be used to build relationships by playing games as well as many science and engineering possibilities! Parachute games are the true epitome of learning TEAMWORK at a young age! Thank you so much for considering my class project!
