I have requested items to help replace the older items in my classroom. It is my first year teaching at this school and the classroom is lacking basic items for preschool. There are a few older things for the students to use, but it is all used and worn. I want students coming in to have items that don't look like they are 20+ years old and are inviting and friendly.
I requested many items to update my science center. The science area needs a dramatic over hall and this is just the beginning. I really want the microscopes and the bugs with the magnifiers so students can really pretend to be scientists.
I also requested a few items for our dramatic play area. Students in PreK learn by imitating and play and they need the items to do it! Many of our students are African American and I wanted some of our babies to represent the students in the classroom. I also requested a baby area so students can pretend to be moms and dads and brothers and sisters, as to what they see at home. I also asked for costumes for students to wear.
I didn't have updated furniture for the doll house, so I needed a few more colorful items to help represent real households.
