Flexible seating has been demonstrated by various studies to improve student engagement and learning. Providing students a comfortable, flexible seating arrangement in the classroom library will encourage students to read and provide them a space where they can successfully learn. Bean bag chairs and soft carpets are popular forms of flexible seating in classrooms I have observed, including amongst the reading teachers at my own school.
