An American History Wax Museum will bring learning to life for my fifth grade students. When involved in our Wax Museum, students will experience hands on learning while meeting requirements for Wisconsin Common Core standards of Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, Math, Social Studies, and Science. In addition, this learning opportunity will engaged students in social emotional skills such as teamwork, attentive listening, and empathy.
Wax Museums are an authentic, full sensory experience that incorporate research, information sharing, and performance. The school and community are providing materials for the student research and displays, however, there are students may not be able to afford a costume, so this will allow all students to fully participate in the Wax Museum for years to come as the costumes can be washed and reused year after year. These costumes will allow the students to not only know, but step into the shoes of, an important figure in American History .
