I have chose these books with my students interest in mind! I want to create an amazing classroom library so they have a variety of books at their fingertips. Students will also be able to choose their own books for independent reading time, which helps them choose books that interest them. When a student has a boom that they are interested in, it makes reading so much more enjoyable for them and helps them to continue to practice the skills they were taught to become better readers. My students also enjoy class read alouds on the carpet and discussing what interests them about that book.
