I am far from a conventional teacher. I try and take my class outside the classroom whenever possible. A portable projector will allow me to teach Shakespeare on the lawn and language in a field. Being able to take my class on the go will encourage them to learn in unconventional settings.
I am consistently looking for new ways to encourage growth, and I find that most growth happens in my class when we are outside the classroom. Allowing my students to act out a play truly helps them take it in, understand, enjoy, and appreciate it.
With a handheld projector, I can take my class anywhere in the school and allow the students to learn while reading on the football field, or acting out a play in our school plaza, or even learning plot lines using our bodies and yoga.
Because visuals are imperative to success in my classroom of English language learners, this tool would be more than just a stepping stone to success, it would be a true blessing.
