The copies I am requesting use Shakespeare’s language side-by-side with modern text, allowing my sophomores to discover the plot with less explanation from their teachers. Learning through discovery will help them understand the themes better and learn to appreciate reading more.
My past students have loved Macbeth, but I know this text will help my current and future students love it even more. They will be able to use the modern text to help them discover what Shakepeare’s language means, and they will see through comparison how powerful his writing still is today. Reading is an area on standardized tests where my students struggle. I want to help them develop skills for independent reading that will carry them through tests, school, and life in general.
