I have found that building positive relationships inside and outside of the classroom with families creates the most successful school year. These positive relationships can be created through communications with families and nurturing students and making them feel welcome in the classroom.
Another aspect of creating a successful school year is creating clear and consistent rules and routines and having students learn strategies to manage their emotions and knowing it's okay to make mistakes (being comfortable in their own skin!). I want to use these books to teach social-emotional skills and support the behavior management system that I am using in the classroom. These books support students making positive choices in the classroom and give them examples of how to make the right choices in the classroom.
