Having gross motor equipment helps students in many ways. Socially it will teach them sharing and getting along as not everyone can have a turn at once. It will teach students how to work together also. Gross motor play teaches eye hand coordination and is directly related to everyday tasks such as walking and getting dressed. It also affects a childs fine motor skills helping them to later learn to hold a pencil and write. Active play also helps them develop large muscles in their arms and legs and is important for good health and musical development. Learning to use these muscles is key to healthy growth for their bodies and brains.
