My students can learn better when they are not hungry. They often ask for food while in class because their stomachs are growling, so feeding them becomes my number one priority. Studies show the importance of meeting students' basic needs before they can engage in academic learning. The snacks you will be donating will make them feel cared about. When I feed my students snacks they feel connected to me, and it is then that learning is at a premium because they feel safe and nurtured. Research also shows that students have better learning and performance outcomes as a result.
