Every year, students come into our classrooms with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. While we as teachers use our own time and resources to provide as many materials as possible, the rampant poverty is overwhelming and fast becoming beyond our reach. While we know that it is the primary responsibility of students’ parents to provide the necessary tools for school, many of the parents we work with are incapable of doing so whether it be due to lack of funds, transportation, or time.
Whatever the case, our students are certainly worthy of having backpacks and basic supplies like pencils and paper to get them through the school year. Teachers will, of course, continue to provide as much as we can, yet it is our hope that you can help offset the disparity that these children must contend with.

About my class
