I am a brand new teacher who adamantly believes in the power of choice. Unfortunately, my classroom library is severely lacking in both the quantity and variety of books. I tell every student, even my hesitant readers, that there is a book out there for them, and I will find it.
It is my goal for every one of my students to experience the power of reading. I want them to read books with relatable characters, encounter information that causes them to see the world differently, and view reading as an enjoyable activity instead of something they dread.
Giving students the chance to find a book they love is a major step in helping them become lifelong readers. It is my goal to build a classroom library with a vast array of books that match the diverse students I am lucky enough to teach.
