By providing flexible seating in my classroom, I will be able to offer my students the opportunity to move about when their body resists sitting still for too long.
I would love to offer seating options where students can bounce, turn, or twist in their seats all while focusing on the lesson at hand and blending in with their peers. Students come in all shapes and sizes, and their ability to sit still for an extended period of time can be challenging. Adding in special needs makes it even that much harder to focus in a traditional classroom chair. Regardless of one's ability, each student deserves a fair chance at a successful education.
Rather than becoming frustrated during a lesson, students needs can be met with flexible seating options. In addition, students needing to fully leave their desks can take the portable desk top with them to a different part of the room, or even outside under our favorite oak tree. With higher demands in the classroom, we need to offer more options, and I appreciate your consideration to help meet some of our needs. Thank you.
