These items will make a huge difference in my students and their education.. As you know, children are exposed to so much technology that they are not fulfilling the sensory experience their bodies need. Children need at least 3-5 hours of play daily. Due to the over use of technology, they are not meeting those needed play and explore times.
Statistics show that children who spend hours on a cell phone, tablet, computer, or watching tv, do not know how to sit still in a classroom. Their bodies can't stop moving when their body only sits still while engaged in games or movies. This creates the "wiggles", squirms, and they simply can't focus.
Weighted items apply a slight pressure to a body to help it find it's calm. It's like a warm blanket wrapped around you. The correct pressure can actually help calm an individual. While a weighted lap blanket may help one student, a weighted stuff animal might comfort another.
