My students come to school full of energy and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in an uncomfortable chair for more than a few hours, children do too! We can't expect them to listen when they are uncomfortable, can we?!
In first grade, students are required to sit for longer periods of time than they are use to due to our curriculum. To help with this, they need more flexible/comfortable seating options available.
Studies have shown that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to do just that with the flexible seating options I have listed on my project! The low table and seats with the back rest allow students to stretch their legs under the table and be more comfortable during a lesson or center activity. The exercise ball will allow children to complete activities either sitting, bouncing, or kneeling.
