I teach at a Bring Your Own Device school, so students can bring their own laptops, ipads, phones, etc. into the classroom so they have access to the internet when computers are nowhere to be found. In a class like mine, especially my AP Psychology section, having technology at your fingertips is extremely important. The docking stations will be available for students to use so they never have to worry about not being able to research, write, or turn in an assignment because of a dead battery.
I also keep school supplies stocked up so that students who come in throughout the year don't have to worry about not having anything on their first day. High School is already stressful enough, let alone when you're coming in after the school year has started. My students can count on me to be the teacher that has their back.
The books on my list will be used to create meaningful lessons that will connect what they learn in my Psych/Soc classes to the world in which they live. I love helping them make those connections, and watching those "light bulb moments" when they realize they can use what they're learning too. It also helps them invest in their own learning.
