We hold class meetings in the front of the classroom in the mornings and afternoons. In these meetings, we try to build a sense of community between the children in the classroom. Having a space for each of my students to sit would allow them to focus on the discussions being held at the meeting. We also come to the front of the classroom for teacher read-alouds. If every child had their own designated space, they would be able to focus more closely on the text being read and following along. This would help tremendously in improving their comprehension of the texts we read.
