Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning and give them the opportunity to choose what works best for them. During their independent work as well as project based learning projects, this type of seating will help them stay focused.
When my students are allowed to choose their own seat they feel confident that I know they will make a good choice and that I value their differences. They are more engaged and focused at the task at hand.
My students are currently using the following flexible seating in the classroom: clip boards, laying and sitting on the floor, sitting at different tables and some choose to work under the table.
