Every student learns differently, and while we can't always provide this during instruction, when it comes to individual working time the sky is the limit. Providing my students with options means that their learning will improve, whether they're responding to questions about a novel, writing a script, or editing with a classmate. As a teacher, my goal is to make sure my students have every possibility.
Giving students a choice gives them control of the education. Part of my job as an educator is to make sure they are able to succeed, and when they are able to move they do. My students constantly ask if they can go sit somewhere else to work on an assignment, and I love it! They are taking charge of their own learning and making steps in self-management. The next step is incorporating these choices into their every day environment. I want my students to see that the choice is always available to them.
The table and stools allow students to collaborate closely together. Ottomans are easy-to-move seating that doesn't disrupt the entire class as they attempt to lift things over desks. Lap desks mean they can take themselves anywhere in and out of the classroom. Every choice is available, and each option helps them learn and grow even more.
