Last year, a huge token of success in my classroom was due to my students feeling comfortable and listened to. Students learn best when they feel in control of their environment. So, when my students say they prefer to do their math lesson on the floor, I say get comfortable! When they ask for help, I meet them where they are, at their level. The students felt so respected. They felt in control. And most importantly, they felt understood. These cushions would also benefit the reset space in the back of my classroom (space for students to reset when overstimulated).
