In Band, we use more equipment and materials than is probably recognized. It is not just simply picking up an instrument and playing on it. You need reeds for the Woodwinds, sticks for the Percussionists, mouthpieces, valve oil and slide oil for the brass, tape and flags for Color Guard, etc. There are always a lot of needed materials needed to succeed in a typical everyday Band rehearsal. With a limited budget, there is only so much we can spend on materials, books, etc. Actually, most of our budget is spent on repairs to our school instruments. About 85% of our entire Band program 6-12th uses school owned instruments. So, any budget that can be saved and used for other materials is a blessing.
