Before COVID-19 closed schools, my students were used to completing weekly challenges using regular household and everyday materials. I saw such growth in their ability to think outside the box, be creative, and problem-solve when they were able to grapple with a challenge and produce a successful solution.
We have been missing the ability to complete even the simple challenges due to lack of materials. Assisting me with the project will allow me to make at-home STEM kits and guide my students through simple challenges and projects when we meet virtually for class. With these materials, I will be able to better engage my students in the virtual setting and continue to provide them with the lessons and resources that stimulate positive growth and critical thinking skills.
