Welcome to my high school art classroom, where creativity and the Studio Habits of Mind guide our work. Students develop craft as they master techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics. They engage and persist, working through challenges to bring their ideas to life. In this choice-based studio, students envision new possibilities, stretch and explore creative ideas, and express their personal voices through their art. They practice observing closely, connecting their work to larger cultural and societal themes. As they learn to reflect, students gain insights into their creative process, and by understanding the art world, they connect their work to both historical and contemporary practices. This space is a supportive, inclusive environment where all students grow as artists and thinkers.
