At the beginning of my teaching career, I was in high school, but now I am navigating through new territory teaching English and AIS in a middle school. This is an exciting change and I am in need of some resources that can help my new, younger students.
I have collected a few things for my new position, but I still need a few more to help me to meet my students' needs and to help my classroom feel like home.
I have learned that many of my students are great with verbally explaining their thoughts and ideas, but when it comes to writing down these things, it is a challenge for them to use correct grammar and have proper sentence structure. The books I have chosen are geared toward helping middle school students in these areas.
During my time as a teacher I have inherited wonderful resources from my colleagues, such as a number of boxes full of middle school level books that I can finally use. I have also have acquired two well loved bookcases that are currently falling apart. It is my hope to have some new bookcases, that are also bigger, to replace them and have more space for my students' books. I look forward to finally be able to give my students complete access to all of the books in our classroom library.
