Most students are in need of becoming optimistic thinkers. Many discussions take place during morning circle time. We sit in chairs and have students think of examples of times when something was difficult.
To show togetherness, students lock arms and share what some of those feelings were. Students figure out ways to change negative talk into positive talk.
Indicators for learning is confidence, saying good things, speaking positive, and expressing high expectations about the future.
Social emotional learning is a part of our curriculum. Our morning circle is needed to provide a calm, and relaxing space for improving communication skills, sharing a variety of feelings, and continuing to work on changing our mindset.
Students are learning from mistakes and learning how to handle unexpected challenges. Fluorescent light covers will create a calm mood and students can sit on the 'friendship' carpet in a circle instead of hard chairs which will make the climate just right for sharing.
