Spelling is hard for most second graders, because of this I want to create a word work station that will capture all types of learner's attention. When they come to the word work station, they will have the option to work with play-doh by manipulating it to make letters to form the words we are working on that week. They will use gel pens to rainbow write the words, or use the alphabet stamps to stamp out their sight words.
All students should have the same opportunity to learn regardless of their learning style. Instruction through paper and pencil can be difficult for some students to retain, but when you bring in materials such as sand, learning comes to life and we access different parts of the brain.
