I plan to teach Code.org's CS Discoveries curriculum to my middle school students in the 2020-2021 school year. The last unit of the curriculum involves a design challenge where students use a Circuit Playground Express by Adafruit to create their own design. Having one Circuit Playground per student will ensure that everyone has ample time to go through the iterative design process of coming up with an idea, carrying it out, testing it, and then revising it.
Computer science teaches so many skills that are necessary in the workforce. These skills include problem solving, perseverance, critical thinking, and communication. Seeing a student successfully work through a difficult problem by troubleshooting, communicating with peers, and critically thinking is incredible! Nothing hurts this process more than a lack of adequate supplies.
