Most of my students live at or below the poverty level and they all receive free breakfast and lunch. The majority of them are from non-literature -rich households, which means that they have very few, or no books to read from at home. I am embarking on virtual teaching, where my students learn remotely, using structured lessons, provided by the district. Having literal books to read at their independent reading levels, while quarantined at home will help to maintain their reading skills and growth and prepare them for the new school year.
