Many of the students in my school have difficulty regulating themselves. Many of these children have diagnoses of autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorder and they often display disruptive behaviors which result with the children either getting into conflicts with each other or reprimanded by the teacher. These behaviors include difficulty remaining seated and paying attention, invading other students personal space, bumping into other walls and children/adults, and others. Unfortunately due to space limitations our students are not able to participate in a proper recess and gym class. Without these outlets our children do not get the opportunities to seek out movements than desire and it causing them to display the disruptive behaviors mentioned above.
Fortunately this year our school allocated a space to set up a sensory room to provide our students with an opportunity to seek out the movements they desire in an effort to promote appropriate classroom participation. However due to budget restriction we are having difficulty obtaining the equipment we need to properly set up the room. With your generous donation we can set up the room our children need that will help promote our students participation and improve their education.
