This project is for a set of literature books that will be used in conjunction with the book Math by the Book by Susan O'Connell.
The students and teacher will use math literature to dig deeper into math concepts and the application of math in the real world. The teacher will use these books to provide a variety of lessons, strategies, pose questions, provide problems to solve, spur discussions, and give students' projects to extend their thinking.
The addition of this math literature to our classroom library will further support the link between math and reading. Students who show little interest in reading but love math, will be drawn to these books because they are “math books” not “reading books”.
