5th grade is a life changing grade. You become a leader in your elementary school as well as prepare to enter the milestone of becoming a middle schooler. This grade leaves an impact on the lives of our scholars. I want to help make this year even more impactful for my class.
"Fair isn't giving everyone getting the same, fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful." My class is filled with diverse learners with disabilities. I would like to transform our room into an ideal learning space where they not only thrive academically but socially and emotionally. Offering flexible seating options helps my students begin to advocate for themselves as well as reduces disruptive behaviors, develops positive social interactions with peers, helps them stay on task and motivates them to come to school every day.
My students enjoy our read alouds during our literature block. Having two options of carpets will allow us to choose which space is best for literature discussions, collaborative work or just an additional space for independent reading. Cushions and wobble chairs offer my students a choice of where they can complete their work to produce their best work.
