Having access to a variety of art supplies allows for more opportunities for my students to independently participate in projects and for them to also get hands-on in the classroom. That's why helping me bulk up my classroom's art supplies mean so much to me.
As a teacher whose classroom primarily consists of students with Autism, I push for hands-on learning and participation but also recognize the various sensory needs and behaviors that arise in the classroom. For this reason, I would love to add a sensory wall to my calm down/sensory corner where I can staple/attach various materials to my bulletin board for students to touch and receive sensory input quickly. I would also love to have a bubble lamp to add to the calming environment for when my students are demonstrating behaviors that require them to take a step back and calm down.
I have seen how helpful a simple sensory wall can be for students in regards to calming them down and would greatly appreciate any help.
