The use of stop watches in my physical education class will make tracking exercises possible. This skill is essential for all students to have. I can teach students about their heart rate and how to measure it. I will be able to connect exercise and physiology just by having stop watches. Also, my class practices running the mile to prepare for the California Fitness gram test. I time my students and they write it in their portfolios. This has not been the most ideal situation since we have 1 stop watch I yell out their time and they are expected to flip through their portfolio and write their mile time. Some of them forget it some times and we have no way to retrieve that information.
With stop watches I can not only teach students about their heart rate but also how to track a partners mile time lap by lap. This will benefit all students because they can learn about pacing them selfs and know exactly in what lap they need to improve. The best part is that they are working together to be able to achieve the time they want. When running the mile they will all have their own personal coach cheering them on.
After running the mile students are hot and need a way to cool down I would use the water sprayer to mist them with water. This will help them cool down and they love it and feel rewarded.
