We are starting a program at our school to help the elders and other people in the village keep warm this winter.
We will be gathering used paper and cardboard from around the school and community and using it to make pressed "bricks" that will then be distributed to those that need it.
We already have two paper-brick presses and just need these few additional supplies to make the process complete! We will gather paper from the community, shed it, soak it over night, press it into bricks, dry them and make bundles to hand out!
I am excited to engage our students in this place-based learning project. Living in such a remote place, it is essential to focus on how to be the best stewards of the resources we have available locally.
