Math and science stations provide students an opportunity to practice the skills and concepts they’ve learned during whole group instruction. During this time, I am able to pull small groups to work with students on skills they need additional support with. Having 5 iPads would allow me to use it as a station. Students would be able to work purposefully while being engaged. I plan to use websites such as Reflex Math where students can practice multiplication fluency. This would help students master the facts that they will set the foundation for the rest of their curriculum. Students would use IXL where I can assign specific and individualized lessons to meet students’ needs. I would also have students work on Study Island to help them retain the science curriculum they learned in third grade and practice what they’re learning in class. This will help them next year when they take the Science FSA that covers 3rd-5th grade standards.
Overall, iPads would help me to differentiate instruction for students based on their need and provide students an opportunity to explore technology.
