I will be using "The Book Thief" as a novel for my advanced class. I will utilize "Freak the Mighty" in my regular classes. Both of these novels offer great discussion points. I want to help my students improve as readers and excite them as much as I can about all the different types of novels that are out there for them. I believe in the power of reading and I am confident it can change everything. I have taught "Freak the Mighty" before and love "The Book Thief" so I am excited to share this passion with my students. Additionally, "The Book Thief" is an excellent companion to their study of WWII in their history classes. "Freak the Mighty" is a courageous tale of never giving up in the face of life's many obstacles.
