Our school district had to cut the music program nearly nine years ago. With new administration, the district brought back our music program this past year. We have around 100 students in the marching band, which is a huge number for our very small district. The students come from low income families and are limited on the amount of financial support they can bring to the program. They are currently marching with extremely outdated, overweight, very large equipment. The drum carriers are covered with mattress pads and black socks to make enough padding for the students to comfortably carry. May students still have bruises from these as they are very heavy! The latest technology in carbon core snares and air carriers would be ideal and a Godsend for these students.
