I am a General Music Teacher. This project is for my students with varying cognitive disabilities. We experience music in many different ways. In our class we sing, dance, play, listen, move, and create music. I would love to give my students the opportunity to learn to play the ukulele.
Ukulele provides many benefits. Learning the holding technique allows students to work on their fine motor skills. Adding colored stickers to the fretboard and teaching simple strumming allows students to feel the thrill of success while playing along with one of their favorite songs.
Music uplifts and all students can learn to play if given the opportunity. Thank you for your consideration of this project.
