In Readers Workshop, students are expected to read 40 minutes a day. Access to interesting books of various reading levels is a must in keeping children engaged in reading for that long of a time. My dream is for students to struggle to make a book choice not because there is not anything they want to read, but because there are so many books they want to try. My goal as a teacher is to make kids better readers, and I am able to do that when I can provide students with more great books. My 4th graders need new, quality books!
The classroom library is the heart of a reading classroom.
It is where students come together to read and discuss books and develop a love of reading.
