Our kids can benefit from developing a growth mindset and understanding their brains. Our kids will get to know themselves as learners and how to improve in areas that matter to them. A deep understanding of one's brain and its functions will provide students with skills they can apply throughout life.
Students will be be able to learn about personal learning needs and advocate for themselves and peers in all learning environments. Students will be learning about the different parts and functions of brains. They will dissect sheep brains to identify the parts and have a more grounded understanding of brain anatomy and function. They will use the understanding of the brain to make a personal brain map, showing areas that impact their metacognition and reactions and how those interactions look like for them individually.
Students will design experiments to test the brains responses to different learning scenarios. Students will explore how people react differently to various social and environmental influences. Students will construct their own learner profile and share this information with our community.
