I will use these books as read-alouds and to start discussions about how to be a good human being. Besides reading them in class, my hope is to create a YouTube channel where I am reading the book aloud, so students can watch them before bedtime. Many of my students do not have parents that can read to them in English and I want to create a way where they can always have someone who can read them a story.
I also hope it inspires family discussions on topics such as kindness, empathy, and doing the right thing. By selecting books with Latino characters, it is my hope that my students will see themselves in books and I hope it validates their existence and their culture!
