I strive to create a warm, creative classroom where students feel comfortable and ready to learn. I currently have a number of older titles of books and a reading corner that has a rug, a table, a floor lamp and a few classroom chairs.
This year, I hope to develop a reading corner where a reading group of six students can sit to study and read. The chairs will invite students into the reading corner in a way that a rug and a few classroom chairs can never do! In addition, by adding to my classroom library, I will be able to provide my students with a number of interesting titles to choose from.
I have a large group of boys who are especially interested in my reading corner already and it is often the boys who don't like to read. By updating my class library and making the reading corner more appealing, my hope is to show the boys in my class how fun reading can be! I have chosen titles that I know that my 5th grade students will love.
